"Years later while working in antique restoration, I came in contact
with wonderful folk art pieces. I could no longer resist, and in 1978 began
carving my own. My early carvings were meant to replicate older pieces,
but I soon discovered that what I really wanted to capture in my work was
the "spirit" and "magic" of the older pieces, and the
joy of "creating" that I had experienced with my grandmother as
a child. Thus, my own style was born."
