JOHN SHARP'S MANTEL IS CARVED OF CHERRY
John was requested to do a cattle roundup
scene for this mantel.
The customer also wished to have a horse
with an empty saddle in the composition.
You may see this horse in the middle panel.
The mantel is lit by a small
light string just under the top board.
THIS CARVING IS EASTERN WHITE CEDAR
THIS IS THE HOUSE WHERE THE CARVING WAS INSTALLED
The builders of this house requested a motif in keeping
with their Northwest location.
In response John carved Sitka Spruce boughs, holly, a Red
Tail hawk, and a Stellar's Jay.
They also asked to use white cedar because it does not
turn black when it weathers.
