Wisconsin Watercolor Way: Week of July 8, 1998
The comments on this page are by Megan, an Australian Shepherd. Sheis my companion on my painting trips.
"My mistress and I are just back from a wonderful painting trip toNorthern Minnesota. I ran in the woods, rode in a canoe for my first time, and swam for sticks in a lake. Tree frogs sung me to sleep instead of carnoises. I even heard wolves howling.
The only puzzle on the trip was the business of sticks. One person threwthe stick I wanted to retrieve up on the kitchen roof!

Then he threw the next stick I found into a truck bed!

Who does he think I am...a mountain climber?

I'm giving a lot of thought as to how to handle this situation whenI return.

In the meantime my mistress has taken to following me around and makingquick 1/2 hour watercolor sketches of me. I think she has reverted to paintinganimals like when she did Arwyn, a dog before me, the barn cats, the bummerlambs, her horse, and the barred rock chickens. She will show you some ofthese pictures on her next web page--and some nature studies on the followingones. Those are the subjects she liked to paint before she did so many buildingpictures to earn a living.
I hope she keeps painting dogs--I kind of like being a model."
