John Sharp: Wisconsin Wood Sculptor

John carves from Black Walnut, Cherry, Butternut, White Pine, and other woods. His sculpture technique is stylized realism, and the beautiful natural colors of the wood are retained.

John has been working with wood his whole life. Born in 1944, he began carving at an early age and his mastery of this medium has earned him the respect and commendations of leading artists, art critics, and collectors. His carvings have won numerous awards including Best of Show at the International Woodcarvers Congress and the Canadian International Wood Carving Exhibition. Pictures of John's sculptures have also been included in Fine Woodworking Design Books Five and Six. John has numerous pieces in private collections.

In addition to carving John has worked professionally as a carpenter, and has also restored several of his own buildings.

Now John is combining his skills as a wood carver and carpenter to create beautiful architectural carvings. His interest is custom doors, mantels, and decorative pieces.
